Artistic Statement

To see my Strippling Warriors website I created for my Warcraft battle guild click HERE.

My name is James Moen and I work in 2D and 3D graphics, CG animation, and computer-aided design (CAD). I enjoy these fields because I believe they are the most challenging, involving all artistic elements and design concepts. Animation is also one of the very newest of all art emphasis which also adds to my interest. The character and subject matter in this field make the possibilities of artistic creations literally limitless. Also, with the help of computers, we can see compositions that strike us with awe and inspiration like never before. They give us knowledge and understanding and entertain us in a whole new way.

I have two focal points right now--Web Design and CAD Deisgn. My work and skills have been growing in recent years and I expect them to continue as I accept new challenges. I am without a doubt inspired by the talent that is seen in today’s entertainment industry as well as the web. I look to the web but also product development that not only satisfy the needs of customers but also impress them and their clients as well. I have enjoyed the comical and violent side of animation and computer-generated art but also the traditional forms of visual communication. I enjoy all of these artistic concepts and expect to see more of them in the future. Feel free to browse this site to see examples of student and career work.

Latest Work - Paperbox CAD design

In recent years I have been employed working in paperbox CAD design. Most people think of boxes as a boring corrugate cube, but actually there are countless designs and they hold countless products. In this line of work I have been providing solutions to transport a product as well as update existing designs. I design them on a program called "Cimpak" and then cut them out using a plotting table. The prototype is then handed to a salesman so he can make his pitch to our prospective customers.

Other than prototypes I also work in processing die requests which involves producing drawings on mylar sheets, cutting printing blankets, and preparing stripping board files so they can be used later in the printing and die cutting processes. To the right you can see a few samples of the countless designs I have created.
